Merchandise: The Field Guide to Nachos

December 5, 2014 Derek Sotak
The Field Guide to Nachos

Now, a website about nachos is all well and good, but what happens when you're out in the field at a restaurant and encounter a strange order of nachos?

THE FIELD GUIDE TO NACHOS

Enter The Field Guide to Nachos, a pocket sized reference to the history, types, and background of the greatest of Mexican delicacies.

  • READ... The true story of how Ignacio Anaya created "The Nacho" in 1943.
  • LEARN... How nachos moved from Mexico and spread across America like shredded cheese melting across a pile of chips.
  • KNOW... the real difference between natural cheese versus pasteurized processed cheese product. It's terrifying.
  • DIFFERENTIATE... between kinds of popular nachos that are to be found in our modern restaurants.

Why, when you're through perusing this guide there won't be a bit of nacho knowledge that you won't know, other than the unknowable nacho knowledge that man was not meant to know of course. You'll be your choice of the bee's knees, cat's pajamas, or eel's heels! Yes, whip this out at the next restaurant you hit up and you'll be irresistible to any humans you desire, assuming they like nachos that is. GET THEM RIGHT HERE!

November 25, 2014 Derek Sotak
Chili, Monterey Jack Cheese, OR RATHER THEY WERE THE TOPPINGS WHEN THEY WERE STILL SOLD AT THE RUSTY HAMMER BEFORE THEY CAME UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT IN 2014.

Chili, Monterey Jack Cheese, OR RATHER THEY WERE THE TOPPINGS WHEN THEY WERE STILL SOLD AT THE RUSTY HAMMER BEFORE THEY CAME UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT IN 2014.

"The Rusty Hammer" sounds like a sexual position that would probably prevent you from eating nachos for quite some time...

Play With Your Food: The Kingdom of Loathing

November 15, 2014 Derek Sotak
The Kingdom of Loathing

There is a little game I have been playing pretty much on and off for the past 10 years (in fact 10 years, one month, and 6 days) by the name of The Kingdom of Loathing. Have you ever wanted to be a Seal Clubber? How about a Pastamancer?  What about an Accordion Thief? A Radish Dancer? Well you can’t be that, but the first three you totally can, because in The Kingdom of Loathing an Adventurer is You! As today marks the retirement of one of the game’s long time writers I feel it a fitting to address the nachos in one of the internet’s longest running free-to-play browser-based multiplayer role-playing games.

NATIONAL NACHO DAY 2014

November 6, 2014 Derek Sotak

While you should consume a few margaritas with your nachos today, it being NATIONAL NACHO DAY and all, perhaps you don't want to drink as many as this lady. I don't think I've ever heard this many nacho puns in one video, but at the same time I don't think I've ever seen as many jargaritas consumed in one video as this either.

In America there is no more holy a day of the nacho year than NATIONAL NACHO DAY, much like Christmas. Some might say INTERNATIONAL NACHO DAY, the Easter to NND's Christmas, is truly a more holy, but people are always going to argue when it comes to religion. What there is nothing to argue about however is our upcoming book, The Field Guide to Nachos, by author Rexroth Chalmers and edited by yours truly, soon available for ordering.

The Field Guide to Nachos

So enjoy your nachos and jargaritas responsibly and have a fantastic NATIONAL NACHO DAY!

Remember that time your (Insert someone you know) went to the lovely Mexican town of Piedras Negras (Nickname: The Safe Border) and they didn't send you a post card? Sure, they said they were too busy visiting El Santuario de Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe or El Serpentario Lucha Iglesia, but you know it's just that they didn't care about you. Now you could cry about it, or you could buy this 5 pack collection of Piedras Negras Post Cards known colloquially as the "Hand of Glory". Send them out to people you know that would actually send you a post card in return, not that jerk that didn't. GET THEM RIGHT HERE!
